“Prototype” is a new one-off video single by The Duty Freedom and Sydney-based visual artist Gillian Kayrooz.

Musically, the track sees The Duty Freedom take a pause from his latest adventures in breaks, hardcore, and IDM territory.

“Prototype” is an (almost) drum-less meditation of interwoven synths, arpeggios, and loops that slowly build to form a coherent architecture of sound.

The video to “Prototype” sets forth a series of works in which Kayrooz explores consumer production vs. environmental protection.

The visuals are made using scanography technique, bringing objects to life that one would find in the darkest, sand-covered corners of your handbag, and placing them against earthy and cosmic backdrops.

Just as the track plays with seemingly contrasting sounds finding each other, Kayrooz creates an unsettling, hyper-realist dialogue of everyday textures.
